Amulette in Form einer Schreibtafel gibt es nur in der 26. Dynastie und später. Sie haben immer eine rechteckige Form mit einem Aufhängerohr an der Spitze und bestehen aus grünem, blauem oder dunklem Material, wobei Feldspat bei weitem am häufigsten vorkommt. Obwohl die Ägypter bereits in der ersten Dynastie Etiketten in dieser Form als Schreibmedium verwendeten, handelt es sich bei diesem Amulett möglicherweise eher um eine undetaillierte Schreibpalette eines Schreibers, die in Kapitel 94 des Totenbuchs ausdrücklich gefordert wurde: „Bring mir eine Palette.“ aus dem Schreibkoffer von Thoth und den darin enthaltenen Geheimnissen.' Mit einem solchen Amulett würde dem Verstorbenen die Macht über die Zauberformel verliehen, die er in der anderen Welt benötigte.
