Keramikpfeife (Okarina) in Form einer Muschel, der Körper ist braun und rot auf cremefarbenem Hintergrund bemalt, an einem Ende ein Aufhängeloch zur Befestigung.
Einst als bloßes Spielzeug oder Spielsachen abgetan, enthüllte die moderne Röntgentechnologie versteckte Kammern, die in manchen Fällen die Erzeugung von bis zu 17 verschiedenen Tönen sowie musikalisch anspruchsvollen Tonleitern ermöglichten. Die Okarinas der Antike sind keineswegs Spielzeuge, sondern Wunderwerke des Designs und des musikalischen Wissens. Sie waren hoch entwickelt und in ein System vollkommener Harmonie eingebunden, bevor der Westen etwas Ähnliches entwickelte. Man geht heute davon aus, dass Okarinas bei heiligen Zeremonien gespielt wurden, um Heilung und Trance auszulösen und verschiedene Gottheiten anzurufen, und dass sie auch heute noch von vielen der überlebenden indigenen Kulturen verwendet werden.
