The exterior preserves traces of a rectangular royal cartouche panel naming Pharaoh Seti I (Men-maat-Re), reading: \"Men-maat-Re, beloved of Osiris, Lord of Ro-setau.\" The vessel retains areas of dark staining consistent with contact from oils or other offerings deposited during ritual use.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFoundation cups were produced under royal authority and deposited in foundation caches beneath temples and other important monuments during construction. As part of the foundation ritual, they served as votive offerings commemorating the establishment of the building and honoring the reigning king.
