With its bright flares of dark red in a matrix of fiery reddish-orange, this carnelian bead is just lovely! Considered one of the six most prized semi-precious stones by the ancient Egyptians, it was hand-carved and polished over 4000 years ago. Endowed with the magical properties of power, courage, healing, and protection, carnelian is passionate but soothing, fiery and protective, mystical and metaphorical making it particularly soothing to wear.

Medium: Carnelian, gold

Dimensions: Bead length: 1/2 inch (1.27 cm). Strung on an 18-inch adjustable chain of 18K yellow gold.

Condition:  The bead ends demonstrate some ancient wear, that does not detract otherwise the piece is intact and in very good condition overall.

Provenance: Sir Christopher Cockerell (1910 - 1999) collection, whose father was Sir Sydney Cockerell, Director of the Fitzwilliam Museum from 1908 - 1937.

For overseas shipments we charge a small flat rate which includes packing, preparation of all customs paperwork, insurance and carrier fees in compliance with all USA and International customs requirements.  Overseas shipments are sent using either USPS Priority Mail or FedEx but contact us if you have a shipping preference. International customers are responsible for all duties and taxes.
