This pendant jewelry element takes the form of blue glazed faience elaterid beetle, flat based, the top surface incised and sacred to the goddess Neith, one of the most ancient deities and one of the four goddesses who protected the dead. Her amulet provided the deceased with specialist protection but also link them with her warlike power and ancient majesty.

Condition: Intact and in excellent condition overall. A rare and fine example.

Dimensions: Length: 1.5 cm (0.59 inches)

Provenance: Private Maryland collection of a diplomat, acquired while serving in Egypt between 1949 and 1956, and then by descent.
