The object is a smooth black stone carving in the shape of a reclining duck with an upright head and perky tail. It has drilled holes for inlays, which are now missing, at the eyes, wings, and tail. This item would have been used as a counterbalance on an atl atl, which is a tool to help a warrior throw a spear. Counter-balances like this one were placed on the top of the atl atl and were often delicately carved in the form of animals or human figures.

Condition: Intact and in excellent condition.
