Naturalistically rendered, the scarab features a well-carved head, eyes, clypeus plate, pro-thorax, wing cases, with incised line border; the legs at the sides are all anatomically articulated with good attention to detail. Underneath the legs are folded into a raised outline border that separated the base into two sections.

Condition: The scarab is intact and in very good condition overall.

Dimensions: Length: 1 1/8 inches (2.9 cm)

Provenance: Private Maryland collection of a diplomat, acquired while stationed in Egypt in the 1950s and then by descent.
