Pierced horizontally for attachment, of bright turquoise green feldspar, with defined head, clypeus, pro-thorax and wing cases. Delineated underneath the legs, articulated in relief, folded up against the body.

Feldspar was one of the six stones considered most precious by the Egyptians and was frequently listed with lapis lazuli and turquoise. Being green, it was symbolic of new life.

Dimensions:  Length: 1.5 cm (0.59 inches)

Condition:  Intact and in excellent condition.  A very pretty and rare example.

Provenance:  Private Maryland collection of a diplomat, acquired while serving in Egypt between 1949 and 1956, and then by descent.
