A Royal Egyptian Steatite Scaraboid, Third Intermediate Period, ca. 1069 - 945 BCE

Sale price950 USD

This object qualifies for free USA shipping and a flat rate fee of $60 if shipping internationally.

Inscribed on both sides, this steatite scaraboid shows a Bes figure on one side, User-maat-re on the other. Since User-maat-re is not combined with any epithet, it’s not likely to refer to Ramesses II or any of the Ramesses of the 20th Dynasty that had User-maat-re as part of their prenomen. Several Third Intermediate Period kings had User-maat-re by itself as a prenomen, so most probably the name on this piece refers to one of them.   The scaraboid has been drilled vertically for attachment.
