This early D-shaped silver ring with large convex oval bezel is engraved with a fine portrait of Athena, the goddess of war and wisdom. She is shown standing contrapposto, fully armed in her traditional peplos and breastplate armor. Her iconic helmet sits atop her head, a shield stands upright on the groundline behind her, and a dedication fire altar to the goddess is to her left in the field. She holds a spear in her right hand and standing on her outstretched left hand is Nike, goddess of victory, who leans forward to crown Athena with a victory wreath.
