A Mayan Jade Disc Pendant,
ca. 500 - 800 CE
This beautiful pendant is composed of a Mayan apple-green jade disc set in a modern gold setting with two triangular sheet gold pieces angling out to the outer border of small coral beads. There are four suspension loops on either side.
Dimensions: Pendant width: 1 1/2 inches (3.5 cm). Restrung as a pendant on a modern 18-inch gold chain of 18K gold.
Condition: Intact and in excellent condition.
Provenance: Ex. Veracruzana Inc. NYC, 1960s; Edward H. Merrin Gallery, Inc., 1970s, thereafter private NYC collection.
