Ein römischer Silberring mit einem dicken, sich verjüngenden Schaft, dessen Lünette mit einem erhabenen runden Karneol-Intaglio besetzt ist. Das Intaglio zeigt die stehende Figur des Sol, des römischen Sonnengottes, der mit einer Hand gestikuliert und in der anderen seine Peitsche hinter sich baumeln lässt. Im Feld befinden sich die Buchstaben ATH.

Man glaubte, dass der römische Gott Sol einen goldenen Streitwagen fuhr, der die Sonne täglich von Osten nach Westen über den Himmel trug. Obwohl er eine ursprünglich italienische Gottheit ist, wird er oft mit dem griechischen Gott Helios in Verbindung gebracht und mit demselben flammenden Heiligenschein dargestellt.
