Der kugelförmige Kopf ist in Längsrichtung durchbohrt und kann an einem Holzschaft befestigt werden, der aus rosa und cremefarbener Brekzie geschnitzt wurde. Aufgrund der Zerbrechlichkeit des Steins galten Brekzie-Streitkolbenköpfe als zeremoniell und nicht als Kriegswaffe.
Die Seltenheit des Steins würde auch darauf hinweisen, dass er einer Person der königlichen Blutlinie gehörte. Eine Keule ist eine einfache Handwaffe, eine Mischung aus Keule und Hammer. Als Symbole militärischer Macht ist die ägyptische Ikonographie voll von Darstellungen ägyptischer Führer, die ihre Feinde mit einer Keule erschlagen, und einige der frühesten greifbaren Dokumente des dynastischen Ägyptens sind zeremonielle Keulenköpfe, wie die des Königs Skorpion und des Königs Narmer aus der 1. Dynastie.
