Dieses elegante, gedrungene Gefäß aus cremerosa Brekzien dient zur Aufbewahrung von Kajal (Augenfarbe) und hat glatte, konvexe Seiten, die von einem kleinen, fußförmigen Sockel nach oben zu einer hohen Schulter anschwellen, die zu einem zweiteiligen, breiten, abgewinkelten Rand führt, der sich abnehmen lässt. Wie bei diesem Schiffstyp üblich, ist die Innenbohrung eng und passt sich nicht der Form des Körpers an.  Die Ägypter verwendeten Kajal häufig, um ihre Augen zu betonen und zu schützen. Der breite Rand dieses kleinen Topfes sorgte dafür, dass kleine Krümel dieses kostbaren Produkts aus fernen arabischen Minen am Roten Meer nicht verschwendet wurden.

Zustand: Einige leicht verstreute Oberflächenablagerungen. Etwas antiker Verlust am Fuß- und Deckelrand und ein enger Haaransatz auf einer Seite, sonst intakt, exkl. Kond. Ein seltenes Beispiel.

Provenienz: Privatsammlung JHH Claessen, Bladel, Holland, zusammengestellt vor 1975, dann durch Abstammung.
