Gewichte im alten Ägypten wurden traditionell in Einheiten namens Debens hergestellt, einem Standardgewicht von 93,3 Gramm, obwohl einige Gewichte aus dem Alten und Mittleren Reich offenbar Einheiten von etwa 12 bis 14 Gramm und manchmal 27 Gramm hatten. Vor dem Neuen Reich schien es weniger Standardisierung gegeben zu haben als danach. Nach der 12. Dynastie wurde eine kleinere Einheit namens Drachen (qedet/qdt) mit einem Gewicht von 9,1 Gramm verwendet und der Deben selbst wurde auf zehn Drachen erhöht. Dieses Beispiel in Diorit ist von der Standardform; eine konvexe gewölbte Oberseite und Seiten, die nach innen zur Basis hin geneigt sind. Mit einem Gewicht von 19,1 Gramm entspricht es etwa dem Gewicht von 2 Drachen.
