Carved from a stunningly clear piece of quartzite, the intaglio depicts Aphrodite gesturing with one hand, two Eros at her feet, and flanked by two columns. While it originally would have been set in a Roman signet ring, the intaglio was set in a delicate 18K gold filigree during Victorian times, and has now been strung on a 18K gold chain.

Dimensions:  Pendant length without bail: 7/8 inch (2.2 cm). Strung on a modern 18K gold.

Condition:  All are intact, some with minor chipping to the edge, in very good condition overall.

Provenance:  Private NYC collection, acquired from the trade, previously in an early  UK private collection.
