This robust circular stone weight is finely shaped from mottled black granite, with a centrally drilled perforation and gently convex faces. The form is typical of Old Kingdom pulley weights used in simple hoisting systems and was most likely employed in construction, quarry, or workshop settings where cords or ropes were threaded through to lift or counterbalance heavy materials. The smooth, well-worn surface and utilitarian shaping reflect prolonged use in an administrative or engineering context during Egypt’s formative era of monumental building activity.
