Deep cobalt blue bowl of hemispherical form, mold-blown with a wide decorative band featuring six stylized floral elements in relief encircling the body. The bowl rests on a slightly raised ring foot with a concave base, and the inner wall mirrors the outer ornamentation with gently embossed motifs. The glass shows scattered silvery and golden iridescence, a result of long-term burial.

Mold-blown blue glass bowls of this type were prized for both their aesthetic appeal and utility, produced across Egypt, Syria, Iraq, and Iran during the early Islamic period. The deep blue hue, achieved using cobalt oxide, was especially favored for its visual richness and association with prestige.

Dimensions: Height: 7.3 cm (2 7/8 in.); Diameter: 13.5 cm (5 1/4 in.)

Condition: In good condition overall, reconstructed from approximately fifteen original fragments with professional restorations, including an area of restoration to the rim measuring approx. 2.5 x 5 cm (1 x 2 in.). Light encrustation and weathering consistent with age.

Provenance: Private New York City collection, acquired from Bonhams, London, ca. 2000–2005.
