This elegant pendant takes the form of a crescent moon—an ancient emblem of feminine energy. Crafted from high karat gold and edged with fine gold wire, it features a warm red jasper inlay that highlights the curved form.

Known as lunulae, crescent-shaped pendants were popular throughout the Roman world and were traditionally worn by girls as protective charms invoking the moon goddess. The motif symbolized femininity, fertility, and cyclical renewal, while also serving as a powerful amulet to ward off evil and misfortune.  The ancient pendant is now strung on a modern 18K gold chain, uniting timeless Roman artistry with refined contemporary elegance.

Medium: Gold, red jasper

Dimensions: Pendant length: 1 inch (2.54 cm). Strung on an 18K yellow gold chain adjustable up to 18 inches.

Condition: Minor ancient wear to the surface that does not detract, otherwise, this pendant is intact and in excellent condition overall.

Provenance: Henry Anavian, Sumer Gallery, NYC, 1980s, then by descent.
