carved from soft pink quartzite, with suture and pronotum lines on the back, legs defined by incision lines to the side, the base uninscribed. Pierced longitudinally for suspension.

Originally functioning as an amulet to be threaded or mounted and acting as a charm, this scarab had regenerative connotations.

Condition: Signs of wear but otherwise intact and in good condition overall.

Dimensions: Height: 1.5 cm (0.59 inch)

Provenance: Private Maryland collection of a diplomat, acquired while serving in Egypt between 1949 and 1956, and then by descent.
