This early ancient stone cylinder seal is incised with a crosshatch pattern, and was most likely converted into a pendant in the late 19th century by adding high-karat gold caps to both ends. It has now been modernly strung onto an adjustable 18K yellow gold chain, which can be extended up to 18 inches in length.  A truly lovely piece.

Medium: Stone, gold

Dimensions: Pendant length: 3/8 inch (7.62 cm). Strung on an 18K gold chain adjustable up to 18 inches.

Condition: The seal is intact and in excellent condition.

Provenance: Acquired in Jerusalem in the 1960s, thereafter in a private NY family collection, thence by descent.
