Geschnitzt aus türkisblauer Fayence, der Schutzgott, dargestellt als nackter Zwerg auf einem integrierten Sockel. Seine große Federkrone überragt groteske Gesichtszüge, mit heraushängender Zunge und den Ohren und der Mähne eines Löwen, mit krummen Beinen und Händen auf beiden Seiten seines hervorstehenden Bauches.
Hintergrund: Diese zwergenhafte, schützende Gottheit war im alten Ägypten sehr beliebt. Bes, bereits im Mittleren Reich (ca. 2000 v. Chr.) bekannt, wurde als Beschützer von Heim, Familie und Geburt verehrt und spielt aus diesem Grund eine wichtige Rolle in der häuslichen Magie und bei Amuletten. Seine enge Verbindung zu allen Aspekten der Fruchtbarkeit und Sexualität zeigt sich in der Präsenz seines Bildes in den "Geburtshäusern", Schreinen, die mit Tempeln der Spät- und griechisch-römischen Zeit verbunden sind. Er hatte auch eine besondere Beziehung zur Göttin Hathor und trat in ihrem Gefolge als Musiker und Tänzer auf.
