Of hammered sheet gold, the centre rising to a small peak, and decorated with ten registers depicting various animals, sun and moon, a large tree in the center register, and a fine beaded outer border, the ends pierced for attachment.

A diadem (from the Greek 'diadema' from 'diadeo': to bind round, or fasten) was a symbol of royal dignity. Funerary diadems, such as this example, were known from Mycenaean times when sets of golden plates often covered the forehead of the illustrious person buried in the tomb.

Condition: Expected creasing, with two very minor edge imperfections, otherwise intact and in overall excellent condition. Presented on a museum-quality custom mount.
