An Roman Rock Crystal Drop Pendant, ca. 1st century CE
This object qualifies for free USA shipping and a flat rate fee of $75 if shipping internationally.
An ancient Roman rock crystal drop pendant, featuring a hand-carved oval bead of clear rock crystal, pierced and smoothly polished to a soft translucency, with natural internal veiling visible in the stone. Above it is a smaller melon-shaped rock crystal bead, a form commonly used in Roman personal jewelry.
The ancient beads are mounted as a pendant with antique 14K gold wire connectors and finished with a small gold ball terminal. The simple gold setting is intentionally understated, allowing the Roman stones to remain the focus. In antiquity, rock crystal was highly valued for its clarity and was believed to offer protective and healing properties, making pendants such as this both decorative and symbolic.
