Construit selon la méthode de la bobine, ce grand pot élancé de forme cylindrique a été construit à la main à l'aide d'un tissu d'argile marneuse rose orangé. La surface fine et lissée à la main du récipient présente une rainure encerclante imitant des pétoncles ou un cordon sous une large bouche entourée d'un bord court et inversé.
Les jarres à manche ondulé comme cet exemple occupent une place particulière dans l'histoire de l'archéologie égyptienne, car c'est à partir de son étude de celles-ci à la fin du XIXe siècle que Petrie a commencé à reconstituer le système de datation séquentielle qui constitue la base d'une grande partie de nos connaissance de la période prédynastique.
