Cette charmante image tire pleinement parti des variations de couleurs de la fine cornaline bicolore. La bête est rendue en relief, sa tête tournée aux joues rondes encadrant un nez en coin, est sculptée entièrement en ronde-bosse. La tête blanche contraste magnifiquement avec le corps orange couché. Une telle sculpture en relief est inhabituelle pour l'Asie centrale : les seuls autres exemples publiés sont un fragment d'une plaque de stéatite de Margiana avec une image en bas-relief d'un taureau couché et quelques petits fragments de décoration florale et figurative pour une « mosaïque » trouvée à Dashli Tepé.
