Connues sous le nom de lunulae, les pendentifs en forme de croissant étaient populaires dans tout le monde romain et étaient traditionnellement portés par les jeunes filles comme des charmes protecteurs invoquant la déesse de la lune. Le motif symbolisait la féminité, la fertilité et le renouveau cyclique, tout en servant d'amulette puissante pour conjurer le mal et le malheur.
