Hand-forged iron nail with a broad, slightly flattened head and tapering square shank terminating in a worn point. The form is typical of utilitarian Roman fasteners used in timber construction, furniture assembly, and architectural fittings. The surface displays stable archaeological oxidation consistent with prolonged burial in a wet environment, aligning with the reported riverine recovery.

Medium: Iron

Dimensions: Length: 2 inches (5 cm)

Condition: Complete with intact head and shaft. Surface corrosion and mineral accretions throughout, expected for excavated iron. The tip shows minor wear and rounding. Structurally stable.

Provenance: Alex Malloy Collection, acquired 1980s to 1990s. Reportedly recovered from the Tiber River.
