A footed stirrup vessel featuring an effigy of conjoined two long-billed water birds, one bird preening the neck of the other while the second has its head turned backward over the body, both with wings held tight to their bodies and round eyes, and each end of the stirrup spout emerging from the birds' bodies. Like most Chimú ceramics, this piece was mold made and burnished after firing.

Dimensions: 8 1/2 x 5 3/4 x 5 3/8 inches (21.6 x 14.6 x 13.7 cm)

Condition: The spout reattached to the stirrup, otherwise intact and in excellent condition.

Provenance: Private East coast collection, acquired April 6, 1989 from Fine Arts of Ancient Lands, NYC. Ex. Rafael Gutierrez, acquired in the 1970's.

For overseas shipments we charge a small flat rate which includes packing, preparation of all customs paperwork, insurance and carrier fees in compliance with all USA and International customs requirements.  Overseas shipments are sent using either USPS Priority Mail or FedEx but contact us if you have a shipping preference. International customers are responsible for all duties and taxes.
