The highlight of this sensational statement necklace is a central 10th - 12th century gold bead elaborately decorated with a repoussé floral motif of scrolling vines, and protruding granules.  It has been restrung on a necklace with later turquoise spherical beads, interspersed with modern 18K gold bead caps.

Condition: The central gold bead is intact and in very good condition overall. Modern strung turquoise beads and gold hook clasp. Sturdy and suitable for wearing.

Provenance: Patti Cadby Birch private collection, acquired 1960s-1970s, thereafter Henry Anavian, NYC, acquired Stair Galleries, Hudson, NY, 2008, then by descent.
