Carved from turquoise colored feldspar, in the form of identical double plumes with rounded tops, a rib down the center, and a flat bottom.

Several gods, most notably Amen-Re, wore composite crowns that included two tall falcon feathers (shuty). The wearer of a double plume amulet would have been imbued with divine dignity and majesty. Amulets of this type are predominately made from feldspar, serpentine, and green porphyry.

Dimensions:  Height: 3/4 inch (1.9 cm)

Condition:  Intact and in excellent condition.

Provenance:  Private Maryland collection of a diplomat, acquired while serving in Egypt between 1949 and 1956, and then by descent.
