In bright blue faience and depicted as a falcon-headed deity, his head surmounted by the sun disc with a uraeus and two feathers, shown standing on an integral plinth with a back pillar, striding forward, his hands fisted at his sides, and wearing a short pleated kilt.

Montu, the falcon-headed war god and the embodiment of the scorching power of the sun.  He symbolized strength, military prowess, and victory in battle.  Egyptian pharaohs often identified themselves with Montu to emphasize their role as divine warriors and protectors of Egypt.  The god's primary cult centers were in Upper Egypt, especially in Thebes, Armant (Hermonthis), Medamud, and Tod. In these regions, he was worshipped alongside other deities like Ra and Amun. His sacred animal was the Buchis bull—seen as a living manifestation of Montu, similar to the Apis bull of Memphis.
