An elegant large gold pendant formed from a single sheet of hammered gold, skillfully decorated in repoussé with concentric rings framing a raised central boss. The outer band is detailed with a rhythmic pattern of stamped and punched dots, which echo motifs seen in Iron Age jewelry from the highland regions of western Iran. The symmetrical layout and finely worked ornamentation suggest the piece held both decorative and symbolic significance, possibly linked to solar or divine imagery.

Pendants of this type have been found in elite burials at Marlik and other Iron Age sites across the Iranian plateau, where they were worn as status items or ritual insignia. Their light weight and sophisticated construction reflect a long-established goldsmithing tradition that predates the Achaemenid Empire and stands apart from contemporary Assyrian or Mesopotamian styles. Mounted on a modern 14K gold chain for wearability, the pendant presents beautifully as both an ancient artifact and a striking piece of jewelry.

For closely related examples, see: E.O. Negahban, “Pendants from Marlik”, Iranica Antiqua, vol. XXIV, 1989, pp. 175–198; see especially pl. VI for comparable repoussé gold disc pendants.
